Articles of Faith

Livia had an ice cream social with her activity day friends at church, and for every article of faith she memorized she got a topping on her ice cream. I didn't hear about it until 2 weeks prior, but in only 2 weeks, Livia memorized all 13 of them! She is so smart! So she got ice cream with 13 toppings! Poor Sydney was feeling left out, so I told her that I would take her to Baskin Robins and do the same for her. Sydney did really good too. She memorized 4 of them! I was so proud of both my girls that I took a video of them.

The video is kind-of long, but you get the jist of their "brilliance" after the first minute or two! :)

New Bikes

It was time that the girls got new bikes, so we bought Livia a new one on Saturday. Livia's old bike is a really nice bike and in perfect condition, so of course, as the 2nd child, Sydney got Livia's old bike. But I bought her a basket, a bell, and handlebar tassels to make it "seem" new to her! She was happy with it. They have been riding their bikes a lot the last couple of days. Sydney just has to get used to her hand brakes now. She's never had a "real" bike with gears and handbrakes before. She is doing really well with it though.

Never Satisfied

I was going through pictures a few weeks ago, for a mother's day gift, and stumbled upon some pictures of me right before I got pregnant. Needless to say, I got very depressed very quickly! I have gained 50 pounds and you can definitely tell - EVERYWHERE!! It's funny how we (as women) are never satisfied with our bodies. I remember thinking that I needed to lose another10 pounds, but now I can't wait to look like that again!

I officially can't see my feet when I am standing, and this is my view when I sit!!

Kids say & do the funniest things!

Mike checked on the girls before going to bed, at like midnight, & Sydney wakes up and says: "Daddy, did you know that if a seashell has a hole on it then it's because an octopus sucked out the inside?"

Sydney was sick and had a high fever a few nights ago, so she was in bed with us. At about 3:30 in the morning, I wake up to a tap on my shoulder. I turn over and she gives me a big hug, then she rolls over goes back to sleep, without saying a word.

Livia hurt Sydney one day last week, so Sydney was on her way to tell on her, when I hear, "No, wait Sydney, look!" Then she pretends to hurt herself to make Sydney laugh and forget about being mad at her, which works 90% of the time with Sydney!

We are about to move, which means the girls will be in a new school next fall, which does not make Livia happy. One night, Livia said, "Mommy, you need to pray about weather I should switch schools or not, because I just did and Heavenly Father said that I should not switch schools!"

Yesterday morning, Sydney woke up and said, "Mommy, my throat hurts, can I have a piece of candy?"

Almost EVERY DAY, my girls get hurt from the SAME 3 things. #1) They will run into a wall. #2) They will stumble on a stair. #3) They will trip on this black trim we have outside, that keeps our bark out of the grass outside. I can not help but laugh sometimes, because of the continuous abuse they put themselves in, which will make Livia SOOOO mad. When will kids learn?!

Every day my kids say or do something that make me laugh. It makes being a parent a lot of fun sometimes! :)

Sydney's Eye Apt

I talked my parents into driving me & the girls to Seattle over the weekend for Sydney's eye apt. It was fun to walk the pier, feed the seagulls, buy souvenirs, & have good weather. Plus Sydney had a great apt. Her last visit, (3 months ago) she was in between the 30/40 line with her weak eye. This time, she was starting to be able to read from the 25 line! Our goal with her, for the last 3 1/2 years, is to get her vision at 20/20 (with her glasses on), and she is FINALLY almost there! Poor girl never remembers NOT patching, since she's been doing it since she was 3! But we have been making slow but steady progress over the years, and we LOVE her new Dr. in Seattle. Her new ideas seem to be working, whereas before she was hitting plateaus with her eye. I'm SO glad that we are near the end (hopefully!!)
