Well we went to Seattle over the President's Day weekend for a second opinion for Sydney's eyes, but we decided to leave early and make a weekend out of it. It was lots of fun. We went to the Science Center, got to see an ocean movie in 3-D for the first time! We went beach combing and actually found tons of cool shells! We went to the space needle, went on a ferry ride, shopped at Pike Place Market, and of course got clam chowder and cod at Ivar's. It was definitely a fun-filled weekend. We were also able to see 2 of our cousins, since we got to stay at my Aunt's house.
You can see lots of fun pictures that were taken from our Seattle trip in the slide show at this link:

As for Sydney's eye appointment... we went to
Dr. Barrall who is rated in the top 3 doctors in the Country; and she specializes in pediatric opthamology! She has also won doctor of the year several times! We are very glad we went to see her. She helped give us different options and new ideas with Sydney. As I have mentioned before, Sydney has
Amblyopia, but her case is extremely rare, because her one eye differs from the other so much. Her left eye is a little farsighted, while her right eye is severely nearsighted. Her eyes are 11 diopters apart which I guess is a huge deal, and for Sydney to have made as much progress as she did so far is great she said. However, because of Sydney's 10 month plateau with the patching, she suggested less patch time during the week. (3 hours instead of all day long!) and then on Saturday and Sunday put a dialating eye drop in her strong eye, to blur her vision, forcing her to rely on her weaker eye. So we are going to give it a try! Poor Sydney is such a trooper though! She really does put up with a lot. She has been having to patch for over 2 years now, and she's only 5! I am so proud of her! When she has one eye dialated though, it looks funky, because 1 pupil in huge and the other is small, so it catches me off guard. I tried to catch it in a photo for you to see, but when she looks close up at things, sometimes it makes her eye wander with the atropine in her eye.
